Why Book Your Cooperstown NY Vacation Rental Now?

Book Your Cooperstown NY Vacation Rental - Doubleday FieldIt may seem a bit early to start thinking about booking your vacation rental , however before you know it, summer will be upon us. Many Cooperstown area baseball camp teams get their dates almost a year in advance and therefore have a jump-start on securing a weekly rental property.  Here are 5 reasons to book your Cooperstown NY Vacation Rental Now :

1. Take Advantage of Early Booking Specials.

If you are travelling during the peak time of year, i.e when the kids are off school for the summer, the earlier you book for your Cooperstown NY Vacation, the better. Special offers for lodging are very limited during these periods so you may be able to find better values if you secure your dates earlier.  A lot of people don’t look for their vacation lodging until they are only a few months out from their trip, so the closer you get to your dates, the more competition there will be for available lodging.

2.  Find a Property that Meets your Specific Requirements.

Are you looking for something particular for your vacation lodging? i.e. a 3 bedroom apartment, a good hotel on the beach or one of the top family properties with excellent facilities for children? The farther in advance you book your lodging, the better chance you will find options that meet your requirements.  Many properties are booked well in advance so the longer you wait, the harder it will be to meet your specific requirements.

3. Save Money on Air Fare.

Take advantage of the best travel options available. Most airlines offer flights as early as eleven months in advance.  You may find that you can secure a trip for ten days for the same price as a seven day trip or you might be able to find better flight times without paying large supplements.

4. Make it Easier on Your Budget.

Use your holiday as a savings plan. When booking your lodging, just pay an initial deposit and then pay the balance off monthly. It will be easier to budget throughout the year and avoids one large payment eight weeks before departure.

5. Give Yourself Something to Look Forward To!

A vacation is a treat for your whole family.  It’s nice to have your Cooperstown NY vacation rental booked in advance and have something to look forward to. It also makes it easier to plan other things and takes away the stress of worrying that you might not find a holiday rental that meets your needs at the last minute.

If you would like to book your Cooperstown NY vacation rental now, please search our site for properties that are available on the dates you desire or use any of our search functions to see a list of properties that we offer to meet your lodging needs.

Cooperstown Lodging Wishes you and yours a very Blessed Holiday Season and a Healthy, Happy, Productive New Year!

In this world of “must haves”, “spontaneous necessities”  and “disconnect” this poem speaks to me.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!

Looking Back, by Edgar A. Guest

I might have been rich if I’d wanted the gold
instead of the friendships I’ve made.
I might have had fame if I’d sought for renown
in the hours when I purposely played.
Now I’m standing to-day on the far edge of life,
and I’m just looking backward to see
What I’ve done with the years and the days that were mine,
and all that has happened to me.

I haven’t built much of a fortune to leave
to those who shall carry my name,
And nothing I’ve done shall entitle me now
to a place on the tablets of fame.
But I’ve loved the great sky and its spaces of blue;
I’ve lived with the birds and the trees;
I’ve turned from the splendor of silver and gold
to share in such pleasures as these.

I’ve given my time to the children who came;
together we’ve romped and we’ve played,
And I wouldn’t exchange the glad hours spent
with them for the money that I might have made.
I chose to be known and be loved by the few,
and was deaf to the plaudits of men;
And I’d make the same choice should the chance
come to me to live my life over again.

I’ve lived with my friends and I’ve shared in their joys,
known sorrow with all of its tears;
I have harvested much from my acres of life,
though some say I’ve squandered my years.
For much that is fine has been mine to enjoy,
and I think I have lived to my best,
And I have no regret, as I’m nearing the end,
for the gold that I might have possessed.

Things to Do in Wintertime in Upstate NY - Hunter Mountain Ski Area wikicommonsI am often  asked, “What are some things to do in wintertime in Upstate NY“?  I love this question, because most people associate “Cooperstown” with Baseball, which is affiliated with summertime.

Winter time in Central NY is awesome.

We are only a hop away (in either direction) from both the Adirondacks and the Catskills. There are some  amazing ski resorts; Windham, Labrador, Plattekill, Hunter Mountain and Lake Placid, just to name a few.  Many of the ski locations also have condominiums, lodges or resorts where you can stay for a night, a weekend or a full week.

My favorite resort is in the Catskills Region, 1 mile from Hunter Mountain.  This is the “Villa Vosilla” which is on Main Street in Tannersville! This family-owned business has been in operation for over 54 years.

And so it is written: “In May of 1964, with the expertise of Executive Chef John Vosilla Sr. and his wife Katina, the European tradition of serving guests as family began. The Villa Vosilla  ” home “ is located in the heart of the Catskill Park, in the most beautiful Great Northern Catskill Mountains of the Upper Hudson Valley”.

National Geographic Traveler named our region in Upstate NY “ONE OF THE TOP 20 WORLD-CLASS BEST TRAVEL VACATION DESTINATIONS IN THE WORLD”.   This unique gem of a property is surrounded by mesmerizing views and clean fresh mountaintop air.  It is situated on pristine Scenic Byway Route 23A, a historic path, in the picturesque village of Tannersville, New York.  The Villa Vosilla is a true vacation destination year round. Although I started this blog about winter, I need to mention Villa Vosilla is positioned in the heart of the Catskills where both hiking and skiing is a must! The Villa Vosilla is ready to greet guest year round with contemporary Italian Decco Rooms, 5 Star Restaurant (with farm to table fresh food), amazing pastries by Lady D., discothèque, indoor pool, outdoor pool, full size gym, hot tubs, saunas and so much more!

To see more information about this amazing vacation destination visit their website at : or view their video below.

If skiing is not your thing, then we have plenty of indoor activities in Central NY to keep you happy!

One of which is the Cooperstown Beverage Trail. The Trail covers an area of about 22 miles in length. One of my most favorite destinations is Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown NY.  “Brewery Ommegang was  founded in 1997 on a 140-acre former hop farm it was with a simple goal in mind – brew beautiful, imaginative Belgian-style ales blended with a touch of American innovation.” Twenty years later, their dream is still coming true as beer such as: Abby Ale, Hennepin, Rare Vos and Three Philosphers, (to name a few) have become Americans’ favorite ‘pass-time’ beverages!  However, aside from tours and beer tastings, Ommegang (as us locals like to call it) have events all year round. Festivals and Fire pit Fridays, are just some more reasons that Ommegang is one of my favorite places on this planet. So, whether you are snowshoeing or here on a summer vacation, Brewery Ommegang will wet your whistle and make you feel right at home! To see more info on Brewery Ommegang click on this link:

Well, I hope I have convinced you (on some level) how incredible this region is and how much it has to offer. Check out the links I provided you with. At the end of the day, if you are only a summer visitor, or coming in for travel baseball, than be sure to find all your accommodation needs with us at Cooperstown Lodging!

Autumn Sunrise in CooperstownThe Autumn Sunrise in Cooperstown is always amazing! I personally make sure to watch a sunrise or sunset every day as this is a  wonderful way to improve your mental and physical health. The act of finding a beautiful spot from which to watch the day begin or end, and enjoy the light at it’s most colorful and varying, is the perfect opportunity to slow down, center your mind, and de-stress. Lucky for me, I am blessed with some of the most beautiful views in Central NY!

Each time I watch a sunrise, I am reminded that “today is a new beginning”.  Sunsets allow me to inhale all the events of the day and exhale in Glory. It’s important to take time to  put your life on pause and simply breathe, make your mind quiet, and enjoy the moment…this is a positive thing.

We spend so much time rushing, worrying, ticking off items on the to-do list, that it is easy to get wrapped into a dangerous spiral of stress. So… next time you are running to the kitchen to grab your first cup of Java… instead look at the sun rise. It’s the best “lift me up” around!

I invite all to come up to Cooperstown in the Fall, as it is the most amazing time of year – the hills come alive with the most amazing spectrum of colors!
